Our Model

Throughout the years, we have struggled with how to explain a model that is completely different than the traditional "take a number and get in line" educational factory. We are best defined as a place where two schools diverge as one; home education and the two-room schoolhouse come together for an updated modern look at education.  If you are dissatisfied with the quality of public school options and want an option other than homeschooling at the kitchen table,  think no further than Northwest Heritage Learning Center.

Our approach is founded on our belief that every student is valuable and capable of growth if the educator creates the right environment and tailors their plans towards each student's strengths and weaknesses. Our students engage in Socratic discussions, that require them to work in teams, to talk, and to listen and thereby go beyond the textbook. Students are challenged to think critically and to pursue their dreams. Our mentor programs guide students socially, academically, and spiritually. Skill-based classes ensure that your child will not waste his school day in pursuits typical of his chronological age. With the oversite of skilled and caring educators and tutors, students can move forward at a level that challenges and inspires them. At Northwest Heritage Learning Center every student is a success!

Note that ALL students must be registered as homeschoolers to attend classes. Also note, that if you fail to register your high school student, that student cannot receive credit for classes completed at Northwest Heritage.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The man (or woman) who can make hard things easy is the educator." We have seen some great breakthroughs with students because we study the student just as much as we ask them to study.

We Can Help Student's Of All Skill Levels

Students Who Find Themselves Behind

Whether they have a learning disability or are experiencing a less-than-ideal learning environment, we can help your child overcome their obstacles and grow.

Students Who Are On Pace With Their Peers

Our Learning Center is not just for struggling students hoping to catch up. Our "whole person" approach to education helps students grow in every area and prepares them for college and for life after school.

High-Achieving Students

Our one-on-one approach is designed to help those who excel in academics go farther, faster. To facilitate this model, all students must register as a homeschooler in their county. We partner with you as a parent, to help you in providing your child with the best education possible! Students attending classes at NWHLC, regularly place into accelerated college programs. We are always working to expand our program to give our students every advantage in the complex and competitive world of academia. We proudly turn out graduates ready for university, trade schools and other forms of higher education.

Leveled Instruction
& Small Class Sizes

Since we keep the class ratio low, we are able to create classes aimed specifically at the needs of the students. Our 1:8 tutor-to-student ratio allows us to get to know our students and customize our instruction. We do not use extensive entrance exams to determine level placement because we are well aware that tests do not accurately reflect some student's abilities.

Students are only placed after our educators take the time to determine their current abilities and assess what courses they will need to achieve optimum learning. For example, if a 6th-grade student can do Algebra 1, but is in 6th grade Reading and Writing, he would be placed in grade-level classes with the exception of Math. The student would attend our Algebra 1 classes. It's all about meeting them at their level of academic ability. That is where the magic happens; that is where we are different. Our students are allowed to soar!
